Bonjour les friends,
Here's hoping that everyone is managing to not only survive but to thrive this school year. I must say, AfroFranco Book Club has been a real source of joy for me, yall!
Our next session shall be Friday, January 14, 2022 at 8PM Eastern. Full disclosure, my birthday is the next day so I fully intend to be as loud and extra as one could possibly be during a book club meeting.
In the meantime, we have to decide what we're going to read next! I've got three choices lined up, all of which I'm really excited about.
First up is L'Enfant Noir by Camara Laye. This is a classic of which I've read and taught several excerpts over the years.
Next, we have Frère d'Âme by David Diop, recently named by former President Obama as one of his favorite reads. I have heard such amazing things about this book, and I really can't wait to get into it.
Lastly is Kiffe Kiffe Demain by Faïza Guène, which I've also been looking forward to reading since a colleague recommended it a few years ago.
As you can see, I've linked the Goodreads descriptions of each book here, so we can make some more informed choices. I'm 100% down for either of these though!
Can't wait to hear from you all. Thanks so much for bringing this dream to reality. Please stay in touch and SPREAD THE WORD! Invite a friend.
