About the
Book Club
The AfroFranco Book Club is a reflective, community-centered space for French teachers, Francophiles, and lovers of language to come together around Black and Brown Francophone literature. Together, we read texts that invite us to slow down, think deeply, and engage with stories that are too often marginalized in traditional curricula.
Our conversations center meaning, interpretation, and human connection rather than speed or performance.
The book club exists to:
-
Deepen language proficiency through meaningful reading and discussion
-
Build intercultural understanding through diverse Francophone voices
-
Foster community among thoughtful, like-minded educators and readers
-
Create intentional space for self-care, reflection, and joy
This is not a class or a course. It is a shared practice of reading, listening, and being in community.
