In the AfroFranco Pipeline...

Bonjour and Happy Summer, Friends!

Here's hoping that y'all are all doing well and enjoying some restful and restorative time. It's been little minute and I just wanted to check in with some of the dope goings-on in the AfroFranco world.

Firstly, it has already been a super busy summer, with presenting and all that.

  • I had the privilege of returning to the CI Reboot conference to present on centering Black & Brown folks in the world language classroom as well as participate in a panel on Interculturality alongside some of the most amazing teachers out there.

  • My friend/mentor Joshua Cabral (he doesn't know yet that I've officially designated him as all of these things, but we'll get him up to speed lol) got to have a live discussion for his amazing World Language Classroom Podcast about Culturally Responsive Teaching and specifically how it pertains to assessment practices for the NFLC Virtual Summit.

  • I got to teach a 4-day long fishbowl class with kids from all around the world with teachers observing, followed by another presentation for the Conference In The Cloud (also alongside some superstar teachers whom I'm really shocked even know my name), which was an absolute blast.

This upcoming week my presentation for the Practical & Comprehensible virtual conference will go live, which I'm super excited about.

In August we have our next AfroFranco Book Club meeting, which I can't even begin to tell you how much life it brings me. What an incredible group of people who just come together and share knowledge, love and insights, looking to support one another as we deepen our own interculturality by centering Black & Brown folks in French-language literature. A little side note, shoutout to the AfroFranco PD subscribers. The book club is a free PLC open to anyone, but if you'd like to show some love and support for this labor of love, please consider subscribing!

Also in August I'll be dropping a couple of new thematic units, which, of course, will touch on cultural practices, products and perspectives of Black and Indigenous folks all around the world. Keep your eye out for updates on that.

Then lastly, this Fall my schedule is packed with conferences, workshops, keynotes, and all that.

So yeah, life is good! Please keep in touch, let me know how y'all are doing and if there's anything I can do to help start this coming school year off well, don't hesitate to give a shout!

Thanks for all the love and support, friends. Let's talk soon!
