Hey y'all,
Here's hoping that you are all genuinely loving life during this much-needed and deserved summer break.
I've been thinking about it for so long, and so many experiences from this summer have affirmed for me how much I wish to:
Share ideas, resources, and lesson plans that I create
Create a space with French teachers as the primary focus
Work collaboratively with like-minded folks to make our classrooms more communicative and proficiency-based, while centering the voices and identities of our students and other historically marginalized peoples.
So here we are! I've decided to turn to the famous quote from Toni Morrison that has been a guiding light for me for many years:
"If there's a book that you want to read, but it hasn't been written yet, then you must write it."
AfroFranco Teacher Collective will be a space that offers:
Monthly webinars featuring Q&A Sessions
Access to one free resource/lesson plan per month,
A vibrant forum for sharing ideas and collaborating with fellow educators.
I'll be opening doors to join the group from Sunday, August 18th to Saturday, August 24th, 2024.
I'll also be hosting a FREE WEBINAR Saturday, August 17th where I'll be sharing some ideas and resources about starting the school year centering the principles of CI (Comprehensible Input), DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Belonging), and SEL (Social and Emotional Learning) from Day 1!
So keep an eye out for announcements over the next few days/weeks!
I'm nervous and excited, but also confident that this is going to be the space that so many of my (fellow French teacher) colleagues have been looking for and I couldn't be more excited about sharing this with you all.
